CLINTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — Two men face criminal charges following a motor vehicle stop on Dec. 20.
A Clinton Township Police Department officer on routine patrol observed the driver of a silver Ford Econoline van commit a motor vehicle infraction.
A DMV inquiry of the vehicle’s registered owner revealed his driver’s license was expired, and a motor vehicle stop was initiated on Route 22 West near Petticoat Lane.
Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer observed both the driver, James P. Miller, 53, of Whitehouse Station, and front seat passenger, Kenneth B. Wideman, 35, of Flemington, moving suspiciously in the vehicle.
A subsequent search revealed narcotics and narcotics paraphernalia.
Both subjects were placed under arrest and transported to headquarters for processing.
The vehicle was impounded.
Miller was charged with possession of CDS and possession of paraphernalia.
He was also issued motor vehicle summonses for driving without a license, following too closely, no liability insurance, and failure to produce a liability insurance card.
He was provided with copies of his charges and was released pending a court date at Hunterdon County Superior Court.
Wideman was charged with possession of CDS and possession of paraphernalia.
During processing, he became extremely uncooperative and combative and was subsequently transported to Hunterdon Medical Center, where he continued to exhibit violent and disruptive behavior.
Wideman’s charges were placed on a warrant, and he was transported to the Hunterdon County Jail.
He was additionally charged with obstructing the administration of law, throwing bodily fluid at a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct, and trespassing.
