POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Drug Task Force agents arrested several individuals in January on felony drug charges following separate investigations into narcotics sales in the city.
Rashard Haile, 25, of Poughkeepsie was arrested Jan. 12 following an ongoing investigation in which agents made purchases of narcotics from him.
Haile faces one count of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony, as well as additional charges from a Dutchess County grand jury indictment.
He was remanded to the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center.
On Jan. 14, Michael Velez, 38, and Stephanie Velez, 34, both of Poughkeepsie were arrested after agents made multiple narcotics purchases from them.
According to officials, the case began after complaints of drug sales at 60 Carroll Street.
A search warrant was executed at the address with assistance from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office SWAT and the Poughkeepsie Joint SWAT team.
Both defendants were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony.
They were arraigned in Poughkeepsie City Court and released.
Additional charges are pending.
Tyrone Haskins, 63, was arrested Jan. 23 at the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation and charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance in the second degree, a class A-II felony.
On Jan. 29, Carl McLean, 30, and Nykiem McLean, 28, both of Poughkeepsie were arrested after agents made multiple purchases of narcotics from them.
Complaints of drug sales at 120 Hudson Avenue led to the investigation and execution of a search warrant with help from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office SWAT and Poughkeepsie Joint SWAT team.
Carl McLean was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, a class C felony, and remanded to the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center.
Nykiem McLean was charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony, and later released.
The Drug Task Force includes members from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, city and town police departments, and the District Attorney’s Office.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
