FAIR HAVEN, VT — A Rutland man was arrested on an outstanding warrant Tuesday after police responded to a shoplifting complaint.

Jonathan Friday, 61, was taken into custody on Main Street at 12:21 p.m.

Police said they were called to Carl Durfees store for a shoplifting in progress.

Friday was observed allegedly concealing items and was stopped at the door when he attempted to leave, according to police.

Police learned Friday was wanted on an arrest warrant issued by Judge Alison Sheppard Arms of the Addison District Court.

The warrant was issued after Friday failed to appear in court on Jan. 27 for prior charges of false pretenses and violation of probation.

Friday was released on a citation to appear in Addison District Court on Jan. 29.
