SOUTHPORT, NY — A woman faces felony and misdemeanor charges after allegedly depositing a stolen check into her bank account and withdrawing the funds.

Olivia D. Bushman, 43, of Elmira, was arrested on charges of criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree, a class D felony, and petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor.

The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office Southport Resident Deputy received a complaint on Dec. 31 of a fraud investigation involving a stolen check.

The complainant reported that a personal check was stolen and deposited at a local bank.

The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigation Division for further investigation.

During the investigation, authorities determined that the stolen check, which had been fraudulently signed, was deposited into an account belonging to Bushman.

Bushman then withdrew the money and received funds that she was not entitled to, according to the sheriff’s office.

Bushman was issued appearance tickets to appear in the Town of Southport Court at a later date and released.
