Man arrested on weapon charge in Locke

LOCKE, NY — A 56-year-old man was arrested on a felony weapon possession charge following a November incident in which he allegedly had a firearm.

Theodore M. Strauf, of Locke, was arrested at 3:06 a.m. on Jan. 22 and charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree – convicted felon, according to Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck.

Deputies were dispatched at 10:48 p.m. on Nov. 14, 2025, to an address in the town for a report of a subject with a gun.

Upon investigation, deputies discovered Strauf was in possession of a firearm at the time of the incident and was previously convicted of a felony.

The firearms were secured at the Sheriff’s Office, and a warrant was filed for the charge.

Cortland County Sheriff’s deputies located Strauf during a traffic stop on Jan. 22, placed him into custody, and turned him over to a Cayuga County Sheriff’s deputy.

Strauf was taken to Centralized Arraignment, where he was released on his own recognizance to appear in Locke Town Court on Feb. 4 at 7 p.m.
