SOUTHBRIDGE, MA — A 35-year-old man was arrested after police seized three firearms, including a sawed-off shotgun, from a residence on Chapin Street.

Officers responded to 43 Chapin Street at approximately 5:11 p.m. Saturday to investigate a reported disturbance.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with Patrick Skinner.

During the investigation, officers received information about possible firearms inside the residence.

Police recovered three firearms, a safe believed to contain additional firearm-related items and body armor marked “POLICE.”

One of the firearms was identified as a sawed-off shotgun with measurements below the legal barrel length.

All of the firearms were unsecured at the time of recovery, according to police.

A records check revealed that Skinner does not possess a valid License to Carry or a Firearms Identification Card.

Skinner is legally prohibited from possessing body armor due to prior felony convictions, police said.

Skinner, of Southbridge, was arrested at the scene and transported to police headquarters for processing.

He was charged with possession of a sawed-off shotgun, possession of a firearm without a License to Carry (two counts) and improper storage of a firearm (three counts).

Bail was set at $30,000 and Skinner was held pending his arraignment in Dudley District Court.
