Student arrested on child sex abuse image charges in Wilton

WILTON, NH — An 18-year-old student has been arrested on charges related to internet crimes against a child following a months-long investigation.

Davi Prudencio, of Brazil, was taken into custody Jan. 13 at Manchester Airport after returning to the United States from his home country.

The Wilton Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children investigator received a report May 13 from High Mowing School regarding allegations of internet crimes against a student under 18.

School officials became aware of the allegations May 9 and contacted police after conducting an internal investigation and facilitating Prudencio’s departure to Brazil.

An arrest warrant was granted Dec. 31 following a comprehensive investigation involving search warrants and interviews.

Police coordinated with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which revealed Prudencio was scheduled to return to the United States Jan. 13.

The suspect was apprehended in Florida with assistance from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department, Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Department, ICAC members and Homeland Security before being returned to New Hampshire.

Wilton police took custody of Prudencio at Manchester Airport and transported him to Hillsborough County Jail.

He was arraigned Jan. 26 at 9:30 a.m. at Milford District Court and released on personal recognizance.

Prudencio has been charged with child sexual abuse images, manufacture of child sexual abuse images, nonconsensual dissemination of private sex images and violation of privacy of a child under 18.
