Man arrested on sex crime charges in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN, NY — New York State Police arrested a Hyde Park man Jan. 22 for attempting to engage in sexual misconduct with a minor.

Gregory D. Graff, 27, of Hyde Park, is charged with attempted rape in the 2nd degree, a Class E felony; attempted dissemination of indecent material to minors in the 1st degree, a Class E felony; and attempted endangering the welfare of a child, a Class B misdemeanor.

The investigation began Jan. 21 after Graff communicated with an individual he believed to be a minor and attempted to arrange a meeting to engage in inappropriate sexual conduct, according to state police.

On Jan. 22, Graff traveled to a gas station in Middletown with the intention of meeting the minor, police said.

Graff was arrested in the Town of Wallkill without incident and transported to New York State Police Middletown for processing.

The arrest was made by the New York State Police Troop F Computer Crimes Unit, in collaboration with the Community Stabilization Unit and the Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team.

Graff was arraigned in the Village of Florida Court and remanded to the Orange County Jail.

Bail was set at $100,000 cash, $200,000 secured bond, or $500,000 partially secured bond.

He is due back in the Village of Florida Court on Jan. 26 at 10 a.m.
