School paraprofessional arrested on assault charges in Fall River

FALL RIVER, MA — A paraprofessional at Carlton Viveiros Elementary School has been arrested following an investigation into allegations of abuse involving a juvenile student.

Natasha Burgo, 25, of Fall River, was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a child under 14, assault and battery on a person with an intellectual disability and two counts of assault and battery.

The investigation was conducted jointly by the Fall River Police Department’s Juvenile Division, which includes school resource officers, and the Major Case Division.

The investigation remains open and ongoing.

Police said they are limited in the information that can be released due to the nature of the case and its active status.
