WEST RUTLAND, VT — Vermont State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred Thursday morning on Business Route 4 near the West Rutland Sunoco.
Troopers from the Rutland Barracks were notified of the crash at approximately 10:56 a.m.
Police said Joseph L. Jackson, 56, of Florence, was driving a 2024 Toyota Tacoma westbound on Business Route 4 when he turned left into the Sunoco when it was unsafe to do so.
Jackson’s vehicle collided with a 2026 GMC Sierra driven by John D. Testa III, 47, of West Rutland, who was traveling eastbound on Business Route 4.
A 61-year-old passenger from Florence was in Jackson’s vehicle at the time of the crash.
Testa sustained a minor injury but was not transported to a hospital.
Jackson’s vehicle sustained significant front-end damage, while Testa’s vehicle had substantial damage to the rear passenger side.
All occupants were wearing seat belts.
The West Rutland Fire Department assisted at the scene.
Road conditions were snow-covered at the time of the crash, and snow was falling.
A Vermont Civil Violation Complaint is pending.
