Police seek help locating missing woman in Newark

NEWARK, NJ — Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing 61-year-old woman who suffers from bipolar disorder.

Marlene Lewter, of Newark, was reported missing on Jan. 8, 2026, according to Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr.

Lewter was last seen in the 20 block of Oxford Street.

She was wearing a black jacket, black pants with a rip at the knee, cheetah-print sneakers, and was carrying a brown purse.

Lewter is a black female, 5 feet 6 inches tall, 150 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair.

Anyone with information on Lewter’s whereabouts is urged to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
