Search warrant executed in Bethel

BETHEL, VT — Members of the Vermont State Police and other law-enforcement agencies executed a search warrant at 739 Sand Hill Rd. in Bethel on Wednesday as part of an ongoing investigation into suspected drug activity on the property.

Police located and detained without incident numerous people on the property at about 8:15 p.m.

No injuries were reported during the police action.

During the subsequent court-ordered search of the property, investigators discovered about 370.3 grams of cocaine and 45.93 grams of fentanyl.

Additionally, police seized seven firearms and about $9,500 cash.

Investigators arrested several people on various in-state and out-of-state warrants.

Dayquan Smith, 34, of Hartford, Connecticut, was charged with fentanyl trafficking, cocaine trafficking, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and manufacturing.

Smith was lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility and was scheduled to appear in court Thursday at 12:30 p.m. in Woodstock.

Bail was set at $100,000.

Kevin Hodgdon, 34, of Bethel, was charged with possession of an unsecured firearm.

Hodgdon was cited to appear in court March 31 at 12:30 p.m. in Woodstock.

Eleni Howe, 32, of Sharon, was arrested on two active in-state warrants for petit larceny and false information to a law enforcement officer.

Howe was lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility and was scheduled to appear in court Thursday at 8:30 a.m. in Woodstock.

Bail was set at $200 for each charge.

Angel Blanchard, 32, of Hartford, was arrested on an active in-state warrant for failure to appear for heroin possession, an active in-state warrant for trafficking heroin, a New Hampshire warrant for fentanyl possession and a New Hampshire warrant for failure to appear for possession of methamphetamine.

Blanchard was scheduled to appear in court Thursday at 8:30 a.m. in Woodstock.

Bail was set at $75,000.

Jamie Macdonald, 40, of Woodstock, was arrested on a New Hampshire warrant for amphetamine possession and a New Hampshire warrant for failure to appear for methamphetamine possession.

Macdonald was scheduled to appear in court Thursday at 12:30 p.m. in Woodstock and was held without bail.

The Vermont State Police deployed special teams including the Tactical Services Unit, Bomb Squad, Unmanned Aircraft Systems Program and Crisis Negotiation Unit.

VSP was assisted by the Windsor County Sheriff’s Department, the Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife and White River Valley Ambulance on stand-by.
