WATERBURY, CT — A Bridgeport man was arrested on multiple weapons and motor vehicle charges following a traffic stop on East Main Street.
Jonathan Celestin, 21, of Bridgeport, was taken into custody without incident on Jan. 20, 2026, after officers from the Waterbury Police Department’s Traffic Services Unit stopped his vehicle near the intersection of East Main Street and Meriden Road.
Officers initiated the stop on the 2010 black Lexus IS250 for operating with a suspended registration and several other traffic violations.
During the investigation, officers seized a Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm firearm from the vehicle.
Celestin does not have a valid pistol permit, according to police.
He was charged with weapons in a motor vehicle, illegal sale or transfer of a firearm, carrying a firearm without a permit, obstructed or illegible registration plate, operating a motor vehicle with no insurance and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration.
