JOHNSTON, RI — State Police arrested a Providence woman on 14 outstanding warrants during a traffic stop on Hartford Avenue.
Tanquasia Carpenter, 27, of Providence, was taken into custody at 10:15 a.m., according to Capt. David T. Bassignani of the Rhode Island State Police.
Carpenter was arrested on a limited extradition warrant for larceny-conspiracy from the Hingham, Massachusetts Police Department.
She also faced an affidavit and arrest warrant for traffic offenses from the Providence Police Department.
Additionally, Carpenter was arrested on 12 bench warrants from Newport County Superior Court and Providence County Superior Court.
The Newport County warrants included failure to appear for restitution review on a shoplifting charge and failure to appear for restitution payment on a bank fraud charge.
The Providence County warrants included multiple failures to appear for restitution payments and technical violations on charges including simple assault and/or battery, shoplifting and grand theft, and bank fraud.
The original charges stemmed from incidents investigated by the Newport, Portsmouth and Providence police departments.
Carpenter was transported to State Police headquarters where she was processed.
She was later transported to Third District Court where she was arraigned as a fugitive from justice.
