Woman arrested on drug charge in Auburn

AUBURN, NY — A woman was arrested on a drug charge following a traffic stop early Saturday morning.

Officers with the Auburn Police Department stopped a vehicle at North Fulton Street and East Genesee Street at approximately 3:33 a.m. on Jan. 18 for a tail light violation.

Officers identified the front seat passenger as Amber B. Klein and learned of an active warrant for her arrest out of New York State Police-North Syracuse.

Klein was taken into custody and a search of her person revealed a plastic bag containing a white powder substance in her waistband, according to Sergeant A. McDeid.

Klein was transported to Auburn Police Department headquarters where officers continued their investigation.

The substance was tested and weighed, resulting in a positive test for cocaine hydrochloride with an aggregate weight of 4.1 grams.

Klein was processed on one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, a class C felony.

She was held for arraignment and subsequently released on her own recognizance, at which time she was turned over to state police on her warrant.
