SHREWSBURY, MA — A vehicle crashed into the front lobby of the Shrewsbury Police Headquarters on Monday afternoon in what investigators believe was an intentional act.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:02 p.m. when a black 2022 BMW SUV driven by Robert McCluskey, 58, of Shrewsbury, crashed into the station at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle went through two double front doors, through the lobby, then through a wall, coming to rest with the front end in the communications center.
McCluskey was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Both on and off-duty officers present at the station immediately responded to the lobby and rendered medical aid to the driver.
McCluskey was placed under arrest and immediately transported to a local hospital for injuries.
No officers, staff or citizens were injured as a result of the incident.
McCluskey is expected to be arraigned at Westborough District Court on Wednesday on charges of reckless operation of a motor vehicle, malicious destruction of property over $1,200, three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
The front lobby of police headquarters is closed.
