NEWARK, NJ — Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a woman wanted for questioning in connection with a shooting investigation.
Shakinah Bloomfield, 35, of Newark, is being sought by authorities regarding a shooting that occurred on January 17, 2026.
At approximately 10:11 a.m., the ShotSpotter detection system detected gunfire on Hawthorne Avenue near Elizabeth Avenue and the White Castle restaurant.
Police responded to the scene, canvassed the area and located six shell casings.
During the investigation, surveillance video captured a suspect exiting a white GMC sport utility vehicle with a rifle-style firearm.
The suspect then walked toward Hawthorne Avenue.
