ROYALTON, VT — A school bus carrying 10 students and a coach slid off an Interstate 89 exit ramp on January 17, 2026.
Vermont State Police responded to the crash at approximately 6:05 p.m. at the Exit 3 southbound off-ramp.
Troopers found a 2025 International school bus in the grassy area between the southbound off-ramp and southbound on-ramp.
The operator, Brittani Pontier, 26, of Bennington, told troopers the bus slid off as she attempted to negotiate the ramp.
The students and coach were returning from a dance recital.
No injuries were reported.
The bus sustained minor damage to its mirrors.
Road conditions were wet and slushy at the time of the crash.
The bus was brought back onto the roadway and continued on.
