JOHNSON CITY, NY — A pedestrian was struck and killed on State Route 17 West early Saturday morning.
The crash occurred at about 6:19 a.m. between exits 70 and 71.
A sedan driven by Joshua Briggs, 43, struck the pedestrian, who was in the middle of the highway.
It was dark at the time and the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing.
Briggs was not issued any tickets and no criminal charges are being contemplated at this time.
Police are not yet releasing the name of the deceased until all family notifications can be made.
The Johnson City Police Department was assisted by Johnson City Fire, the New York State Police accident reconstruction unit, the Broome County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Department of Transportation.
