Driver arrested after pursuit in Hadley

HADLEY, MA — A Connecticut man was arrested following a police pursuit that began in Hadley and ended in West Springfield on Thursday afternoon.

Hadley Police Dispatch was notified shortly after 4 p.m. of a black Honda CRV with stolen license plates on Russell Street near the intersection of Bay Road.

Patrols located the vehicle near the intersection of East Street and confirmed the plates were stolen from a brown Honda Civic in Westford.

Officers activated their blue lights to stop the vehicle once all patrol units were in position.

The driver refused to stop and fled south on South Maple Street, west on Bay Road, back to Route 9 into Northampton, and onto Interstate 91 South.

A Massachusetts State Trooper successfully deployed stop sticks in West Springfield, deflating the vehicle’s tires and bringing the pursuit to a stop.

Zachary Colvin, 30, of Vernon, Connecticut, was arrested.

He faces charges including possession of a stolen motor vehicle, failing to stop for police, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and multiple motor vehicle infractions.

No injuries or property damage were reported.
