SAYREVILLE, NJ — A 47-year-old man faces multiple charges after allegedly stealing tires and rims from a rental car business and colliding with a police vehicle before fleeing.
Patrolman Dufrat encountered a theft in progress at Enterprise Rental Car on Route 9 on the evening of Jan. 9, 2026, according to a Sayreville Police Department press release.
The suspect was in the process of stealing rims and tires from a vehicle in the parking lot when he collided with Dufrat’s patrol car and fled the scene.
A pursuit ensued onto the northbound parkway but was terminated for safety reasons.
Detective Pirigyi led an investigation that resulted in the apprehension of Randy Williams, of South Orange.
The investigation uncovered evidence linking Williams to multiple other thefts in Sayreville, resulting in 17 additional charges.
Williams faces charges including robbery, theft, assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and criminal mischief.
