Parolee arrested on cannabis charge in Erin

ERIN, NY — A parolee was arrested following a compliance check that led to the discovery of a large quantity of illicit cannabis.

On January 14, 2026, parole officers assigned to a G.I.V.E. initiative in Chemung County located approximately 30 pounds of suspected cannabis while conducting a compliance check at a residence on Wheaton Road.

Based on probable cause developed by parole, members of the New York State Police Troop E Violent Gangs and Narcotics Enforcement Team executed a search warrant at the residence.

During the search, investigators seized approximately 45 pounds of illicit cannabis, 7 pounds of concentrated cannabis, digital scales, packaging materials, a ledger, and a quantity of U.S. currency consistent with narcotics sales.

Carlos L. Colon, 35, of Erin, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of cannabis 1st degree, a felony.

A parole violation warrant was issued, and Colon was arraigned in the Village of Horseheads Court and remanded to the Chemung County Jail without bail.

The arrest was made in coordination with the New York State Police, the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision and the Elmira Police Department Drug Enforcement Unit.
