MEDWAY, MA — A 31-year-old man was arrested Friday morning following an investigation into an armed road rage incident involving a bicyclist earlier this month.
Travis Ross, of Avon, was taken into custody without incident and charged with two counts of Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
On Jan. 7, the Medway Police Department received a report from an adult bicyclist who stated he was involved in a road rage incident near the Medway Commons entrance on Holliston Street at 3:45 p.m.
The victim reported that he was nearly struck by a gray sedan.
The operator of the vehicle then stopped, pointed a handgun at the victim, and fled the area.
The account was corroborated through town surveillance video, license plate reader technology, and an independent witness who observed the interaction and photographed the suspect vehicle.
The suspect vehicle was identified as a gray 2014 Cadillac ATS registered to Ross.
On Friday morning, Medway Police detectives, with assistance from the Avon Police Department and the Metro LEC SWAT Team, executed an arrest warrant for Ross and a search warrant for his vehicle, residence, and business.
During the arrest, a loaded 9mm handgun was located on the driver’s seat of the vehicle.
Additional ammunition and a second magazine for the firearm were also recovered.
Ross was arraigned in Wrentham District Court, where bail was set at $500.
As conditions of release, Ross was ordered to have no contact with the victim, to stay away from the victim, and is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition.
His next court date is scheduled for early March.
