PITTSFIELD, MA — A 22-year-old man was arrested Tuesday evening after allegedly threatening someone with a firearm on North Street.
Pittsfield Police Department patrol officers responded to the 500 block of North Street at approximately 6:34 p.m. for a report of an unwanted subject.
Officers learned a person had been threatened by a man with a firearm and that multiple people, including the potential suspect, were inside an apartment.
Additional officers, including members of the department’s anti-crime unit, responded due to the reported presence of a firearm and multiple individuals inside the residence.
Officers were allowed into the apartment and identified the suspect as Ixander Pereira, 22, of Pittsfield.
Pereira was taken into custody without incident.
Officers discovered bags of material consistent with heroin on his person.
Pereira has been charged with one count of assault with a dangerous weapon (firearm) and possession of a Class A substance (heroin).
No firearm was recovered.
Pereira was expected to be arraigned in Pittsfield District Court on Wednesday.
