Man arrested on warrant in Georgia

GEORGIA, VT — Vermont State Police arrested a Highgate man on multiple warrants during a traffic stop Monday afternoon.

Wade Wood, 34, of Highgate, was taken into custody at approximately 4:06 p.m. at the Georgia Maplefields.

State police were assisting the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office during the traffic stop when Wood was identified as having active warrants for his arrest.

The warrants included two counts of leaving the scene of an accident, negligent operation, eluding and retail theft.

Wood was transported to the Northwest State Correctional Facility, where he was held on $900 bail.

He is scheduled to appear in Franklin County Superior Court on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
