Man sought after forced entry in Rome

ROME, NY — New York State Police are searching for a man who allegedly forced his way into a home following a road rage incident on Jan. 11, 2026.

Troopers responded to a residence on Sleepy Hollow Road at approximately 7:24 p.m. following a reported burglary.

A preliminary investigation determined that a road rage incident began earlier on Black River Boulevard.

One of the individuals involved returned to his residence on Sleepy Hollow Road and was followed by the other party.

The homeowner entered his residence and secured the door.

The individual who followed allegedly forcefully entered the home, threatened the homeowner, and chased him outside.

The homeowner did not report any injuries.

The homeowner contacted 911, and the individual left the scene westbound on Sleepy Hollow Road in a black SUV with dark tinted windows.

The individual is described as a white male, middle-aged, wearing a black jacket and blue jeans, with short hair and a stubble-style beard.

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation is actively investigating this incident.
