NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — A Pawtucket woman turned herself in to state police on fraud charges Tuesday morning.
Amanda Cooper, 36, of Pawtucket, was arrested at 11:30 a.m. at the Wickford Barracks on charges of obtaining property by false pretenses/impersonation over $10,000 and fraudulently obtaining public assistance over $500.
The arrest was the result of a barracks investigation, according to state police.
Cooper was processed and transported to Third Division District Court for arraignment.
In a separate incident Tuesday afternoon, troopers arrested a Coventry woman on an animal cruelty warrant.
Kelsey Oagles, 33, of Coventry, was arrested at 3:15 p.m. on an affidavit for cruelty to or neglect of animals and abandonment of animals from a motor vehicle or abandonment of an animal in a building without providing proper care.
The warrant originated from the Warren Police Department.
Troopers encountered Oagles while responding to a disabled motor vehicle on Route 403 in East Greenwich.
She was transported to the Wickford Barracks, processed and later turned over to the Warren Police Department.
