Man injured in crash in Westmoreland

WESTMORELAND, NY — A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of State Route 26 and Skinner Road sent one driver to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries on Jan. 10, 2026.

Edward Casper, 89, of New Hartford, was driving a 2022 Toyota Highlander west on Skinner Road at around 4:28 p.m. when he failed to yield the right of way, according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol.

Casper’s vehicle struck a 2021 GMC Sierra driven by Travis Palmer, 33, of Vernon Center, who was traveling south on State Route 26.

Casper was transported by COCVAC to Wynn Hospital for treatment.

Palmer and his passenger were not injured.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by COCVAC Ambulance, Westmoreland Fire Department and the New York State Police.
