RED HOOK, NY — A woman was arrested Thursday after police tracked down a stolen vehicle using GPS technology.
Red Hook Police patrols were dispatched to State Route 199 at approximately 11:45 a.m. for a report of a stolen vehicle complaint.
Police learned that a 2024 Subaru had been stolen from a parking lot by an unknown female who left in an unknown direction.
An investigation was initiated which resulted in using a GPS track of the stolen vehicle.
At approximately 1:45 p.m. the vehicle was observed traveling on Route 308 in Rhinebeck where a traffic stop was conducted.
The driver was identified as Jessica K. West, 39, of Rhinebeck.
West was taken into custody without incident.
She was charged with grand larceny of a motor vehicle, criminal possession of stolen property, both felonies, as well as unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor.
Red Hook Police were assisted by the New York State Police and the New York State Bridge Authority.
