Man arrested on trespassing charge in Genoa

GENOA, NY — A 22-year-old man is facing criminal charges after allegedly attempting to enter a residence through a window while a child was present.

Terry R. Bruce, of Newfield, was arrested Jan. 5 by the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office on charges of criminal trespass in the second degree and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors.

Deputies were dispatched to an address in the town of Genoa at approximately 2:40 a.m. Jan. 3 for a domestic incident.

The victim reported that Bruce had tried entering her bedroom through a window.

The incident occurred in the presence of a child under the age of 17.

Bruce had left the scene before deputies arrived.

Following an investigation, deputies applied for a warrant for the charges.

Bruce turned himself in at the Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 5 at 4:40 p.m.

He was taken to centralized arraignment where an order of protection was issued.

Bruce was remanded to Cayuga County Jail pending $1,000 bail or $2,000 bond.
