SOUTHBOROUGH, MA — Chief Ryan Newell reports that the Southborough Police Department arrested two people Thursday night as part of an investigation at a local hotel.

On Thursday, a Southborough Police detective conducted a controlled prostitution sting operation at a hotel at 367 Turnpike Road.

As a result of the operation, Taylah Messia, 24, of Randolph, was arrested and charged with sexual conduct for a fee.

She was also charged with possession of a Class B drug.

Through a follow-up on-scene investigation, a second individual, Paulino Afonso-Miranda, 36, of Randolph, was charged with possession with intent to distribute a Class B drug (subsequent offense).

Police located 12 Percocet pills on his person.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be filed at a later date.

“This investigation was conducted to address ongoing concerns about illegal activity and its impact on the safety of our community,” said Chief Newell.

“These types of efforts are about preventing exploitation and reducing associated drug activity, which helps to keep our residents and visitors safe.”
