HALEDON, NJ — Two Paterson men have been arrested in connection with a burglary at a Burger King restaurant on Belmont Avenue.
The burglary occurred during the early morning hours of Oct. 26 at the restaurant located at 168 Belmont Avenue, according to the Haledon Police Department.
Officers responding to the scene found the drive-thru window had been forcibly opened and a safe containing an undisclosed amount of cash had been stolen.
The establishment’s video recording system had been tampered with, police said.
Surveillance footage showed two male suspects dressed in dark clothing, masks and gloves entering the business and removing the safe using a dolly.
Additional surveillance video captured a gray Acura sedan in the area before and after the burglary.
The vehicle was registered to Kenneth Marcano, 24, of Paterson, police said.
Marcano was stopped Oct. 29 at the intersection of 14th Avenue and East 24th Street in Paterson while driving the gray Acura sedan.
He was taken into custody on an active $750 warrant out of Paterson for possession of burglar tools.
Marcano was charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief and transported to the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office Processing Hub.
A second suspect, Savion Ambert, 24, of Paterson, voluntarily appeared at the Haledon Police Department on Jan. 5, 2026.
After waiving his Miranda rights, Ambert admitted involvement in the burglary during a recorded interview, police said.
Ambert was charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief and possession of burglar tools.
He was turned over to the Paterson Police Department on an active traffic warrant.
The Passaic County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit processed the scene.
