BREWSTER, NY — Authorities have located a missing person deceased in a wooded area.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing person at approximately 5:47 p.m. on Jan. 6, 2026.
Deputies and investigators conducted follow-up efforts to locate the individual.
The body was discovered at approximately 8:40 a.m. on Jan. 7, 2026, in a wooded area near Eastview Court in the Village of Brewster.
The identity of the individual is being withheld pending notification of family members.
The cause and manner of death have not yet been determined.
Authorities said there is no indication of foul play, and the incident appears to be isolated.
The investigation remains ongoing and is being handled by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
