EAST WINDSOR, CT — Police arrested a man who escaped from a halfway house in late December after finding him hiding in a crawl space.
Joshua Montanez, 38, was taken into custody without incident on Jan. 7, 2026, at a residence on South Main Street.
The East Windsor Police Department assisted parole officers in serving a take into custody order for Montanez, who was believed to be dangerous and possibly armed.
Parole officers had received information that Montanez was staying at the South Main Street residence.
At approximately 10:30 a.m., East Windsor police officers and parole officers established a perimeter and lawfully entered the residence.
Officers conducted a coordinated search, including the deployment of K-9 Mylo, to locate Montanez.
Montanez was found hiding in a crawl space on the third floor and complied with officers’ commands.
No injuries were reported.
