COLESVILLE, NY — New York State Police arrested a man following a domestic dispute that occurred in a vehicle traveling on Interstate 88.
Francisco Ortiz, 42, of Deposit, was arrested Jan. 5, 2026, and charged with the class D felony of assault in the second degree.
Troopers were dispatched to a report of a domestic dispute in the town of Colesville.
Ortiz is accused of striking a victim in the face and crushing the victim’s arm in the middle console of his vehicle.
Ortiz is also accused of breaking a door at the victim’s residence in Afton.
The victim was transported by Afton EMS to Tri-Town Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries.
Ortiz was located at his residence in Deposit and arrested.
He was transported to the Broome County Jail for centralized arraignment for the charges related to the domestic dispute in the vehicle.
Ortiz was issued appearance tickets to Afton Town Court on Jan. 20, 2026, for the damage he caused to the victim’s door.
