Two arrested on drug charges in Hoosick Falls

HOOSICK FALLS, NY — State police arrested two men on drug charges following a traffic stop on Church Street on Dec. 31.

Ryan M. Cote, 40, of Pownal, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance fifth degree, a class D felony; criminal possession of a controlled substance seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor; criminally using drug paraphernalia second degree, a class A misdemeanor; driving while ability impaired by drugs; and other vehicle and traffic law violations.

Jacen E. Blair, 48, of Hoosick Falls, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance fourth degree, a class C felony.

Troopers stopped a vehicle at about 2:34 p.m. for a vehicle and traffic law violation.

The driver was identified as Cote and a passenger as Blair.

During the investigation, troopers determined Cote was in possession of a felony weight narcotic and was impaired.

Further investigation discovered drug paraphernalia and glass smoking devices containing drug residue in Cote’s unregistered vehicle.

Blair was found to possess felony weight narcotics and a large amount of U.S. currency.

Both men were arrested and transported to State Police Brunswick for processing.

Cote provided a sample to determine the drug content of his blood.

Both were arraigned at Brunswick Town Court and released on their own recognizance.
