ALBANY, NY — A Massachusetts man died after his SUV struck a tractor-trailer stopped on the shoulder of Interstate 90 westbound on Jan. 5.
David R. Hall, 46, of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, was traveling westbound at about 5:15 p.m. when his vehicle left the lanes of travel and struck the rear of a flatbed tractor-trailer, according to State Police from Troop T and Troop G Bureau of Investigations.
Hall was extricated from his vehicle and transported to Albany Medical Center with severe injuries.
He succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased at the hospital on Jan. 6.
The driver of the commercial vehicle was outside of the vehicle inspecting the trailer at the time of the crash and was uninjured.
Hall’s dog, who was the only other occupant in his vehicle, was declared deceased at the scene.
The right lane of the roadway was closed until approximately 10 p.m. for the investigation.
All lanes have since reopened.
