PLATTSBURGH, NY — New York State Police charged a man with driving while intoxicated following a property damage collision.
Shawn M. Powers, 33, of Plattsburgh, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated with a Previous Conviction within 10 Years and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (1 prior).
Troopers responded to Smithfield Boulevard in the town of Plattsburgh at approximately 9:06 p.m. Sunday for a reported property damage collision.
An investigation determined a 2024 Honda, operated by Powers, was located off the roadway.
While troopers were interviewing Powers, he exhibited signs of impairment.
Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered, which Powers failed.
He was subsequently arrested and transported to State Police Plattsburgh, where he provided a breath sample registering .23% BAC.
Powers was processed and released on appearance tickets, returnable to the Town of Plattsburgh Court at a later date this month.
