Shots fired at vehicle in New Bedford

NEW BEDFORD, MA — Police are investigating a shooting incident in the city’s North End that occurred late Monday night.

Officers responded to the area of Hathaway Road just before 12 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a motor vehicle crash.

Upon arrival, officers learned that shots had been fired at a vehicle.

During the investigation, officers located multiple shell casings in the area of Shawmut Avenue.

No injuries were reported.

Preliminary findings indicate this was an isolated, domestic-related incident.

The individuals involved are known to one another, and there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the general public, police said.

Detectives are actively investigating, and the matter remains ongoing.
