FAIRHAVEN, MA — A New Bedford man has been arrested and charged in connection with a triple stabbing that left one victim critically injured.
Gavin Massas, 21, of New Bedford, faces multiple charges including assault with intent to murder with a firearm, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and carrying a loaded firearm without a license.
Fairhaven Police responded to a report of a stabbing outside a home on Cherry Street at about 10:15 p.m. Sunday following a fight.
Three people suffered knife wounds, and one victim was critically injured.
Detectives identified Massas as the suspect through a preliminary investigation.
Police located a firearm carried by Massas at the scene of the stabbing.
Massas was located and taken into custody without incident Tuesday.
He was arraigned Wednesday at Third District Court in New Bedford.
The incident remains under investigation by Fairhaven Police and Massachusetts State Police.
A preliminary investigation determined the incident was not a random act, and the victims and suspect are known to each other.
