FAIRFIELD, NJ — Two New York men were arrested after allegedly stealing car parts from a vehicle at an auto auction.
Felipe Escalonacortes, 29, of Monticello, New York, and Andres Bravoscott, 43, of Monticello, New York, were taken into custody on Jan. 6, 2026, according to the Fairfield Police Department.
Officers were dispatched to Skyline Auto Auction at 100 Route 46 East at approximately 12:41 p.m. on a report of a theft in progress.
Upon arrival, officers met with Skyline Security, who had detained both suspects.
Police allege the men removed car parts from another vehicle’s trunk that had been left unattended.
Security cameras in the parking lot captured the incident as it occurred, according to police.
Both men were arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing.
The car parts were returned to the victim.
Escalonacortes and Bravoscott were later released pending an initial court date at the Essex County Courthouse on Feb. 18, 2026.
