WATERVLIET, NY — A 56-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred during a dispute at a private residence.
Alex Ramon Calo-Diaz was involved in a dispute just before midnight on Jan. 2, 2026, in the area of 8th Street and 4th Avenue that resulted in a victim being stabbed multiple times, according to the Watervliet Police Department.
Officers responded to the scene and provided aid to the victim, who was transported for treatment and later released.
With the assistance of New York State Police K9 Mike, Calo-Diaz was located hiding in nearby bushes and taken into custody.
Calo-Diaz has been charged with assault in the second degree, a class D felony, and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor.
He was arraigned in Green Island Town Court and remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 cash bail.
The Watervliet Police Department was assisted by the New York State Police and the Green Island Police Department.
