Police seek help identifying assault suspect in Newark

NEWARK, NJ — Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect in connection with an aggravated assault that injured two people.

The victims reported that at approximately 7:16 p.m. on Jan. 2, they were walking northbound in the 600 block of Mayor Kenneth A. Gibson Boulevard when they heard popping sounds from a black vehicle traveling south on the thoroughfare.

Both victims suffered facial injuries from a pellet gun.

Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr. urges anyone with information on the suspect’s identity to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
