Man arrested on animal cruelty charges in Hoosick Falls

HOOSICK FALLS, NY — A man was arrested Thursday on animal cruelty charges after police found dogs locked in a cage in a truck bed without food or water.

Jason A. Gardner, 51, of Hoosick Falls, was arrested at approximately 9:04 p.m. on three misdemeanor counts of torturing or injuring an animal/failure to provide sustenance.

The Hoosick Falls Police Department was dispatched to a residence on Fourth Street for a report of several dogs locked inside a cage in the bed of a pickup truck for a prolonged period.

Officers found the dogs had been inside the truck bed cage for an extended period without food or water nearby.

The dogs were removed by officers and turned over to the Hoosick Falls Dog Control Officer.

Gardner was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Village Court on Jan. 22, 2026, at 6:30 p.m.
