CORTLAND, NY — A 33-year-old man has been arrested following a stabbing that occurred on Jan. 3.
At approximately 1:09 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Ollie’s parking lot at 160 Clinton Avenue for a report of an assault.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim suffering from a stab wound to the chest.
Officers immediately rendered aid until emergency medical personnel arrived.
The victim was transported to Upstate Medical University Hospital for treatment and was later listed in stable condition.
An investigation determined that the assault occurred earlier outside the Salvation Army located at 138 Main Street.
Surveillance video and witness statements revealed that the victim was involved in a physical altercation with multiple individuals when one male suspect produced a knife and stabbed the victim before fleeing the scene.
Through investigation, officers identified the suspect as Dillin Wilcox, 33.
On Saturday, officers located Wilcox near Charles Street and took him into custody following a brief foot pursuit.
He was arrested without further incident.
Wilcox was charged with assault in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and resisting arrest.
Wilcox was arraigned in City Court and sent to the Cortland County Jail.
He will appear in City Court on Jan. 14.
