Man arrested on reckless conduct charge in Somersworth

SOMERSWORTH, NH — Police arrested a 60-year-old man after a bullet was fired through an apartment door and lodged in a neighboring unit’s wall.

The Somersworth Police Department received a call for shots fired at 151 Indigo Hill Road at approximately 8:20 p.m. on Jan. 2.

The reporting party said they heard a loud bang coming from an adjacent apartment.

Responding officers located what appeared to be a bullet hole in the door of Apartment 17.

The investigation showed a round was fired from within Apartment 17.

The round went through the door, across the hall, and lodged in the wall of a neighboring apartment.

The resident ultimately admitted to the discharge of a firearm.

Daniel Dix, 60, of Somersworth, was arrested and charged with one count of felony reckless conduct.

Multiple firearms were seized and a spent shell casing was recovered as part of the investigation.

Dix was held on preventive detention and will be arraigned on Jan. 5 at the Dover District Court.

There were no injuries as a result of the firearm discharge.
