CAMPTON, NH — Multiple fire departments responded to a detached garage fire on Perch Pond Road on Friday morning.

Campton-Thornton Fire Rescue, Campton Police Department, Woodstock Fire Department and Plymouth Fire-Rescue were called to the scene just after 7:30 a.m.

Initial reports indicated a detached garage was on fire.

An off-duty Campton-Thornton Fire Department member and the New Hampton fire chief, both in the area, arrived first and found a large structure fully involved with no exposures.

A first alarm brought additional personnel and apparatus from Holderness Fire Department, Ashland Fire Department and Waterville Valley.

Engine 1 from Campton-Thornton Fire Department Station 3 was the first engine on scene, with Engine 3 arriving shortly after.

Engine 3 laid a supply line down the driveway while Engine 1 began attacking the fire.

Crews worked for approximately 40 minutes to knock down the flames and remained on scene for another two hours extinguishing hot spots.

Bitter cold hampered crews, taking a toll on personnel and causing icing issues on discharges and supply lines.

Water supply was established at a nearby bridge by Waterville Valley Department of Public Safety Engine 1, with additional apparatus shuttling water to the scene.

No injuries were reported.

The garage and its contents, including a significant amount of tools and two vehicles, were a total loss.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but believed to be electrical in nature and is not considered suspicious.
