HOOSICK FALLS, NY — A 33-year-old man was arrested Monday following a domestic disturbance that left another man injured.
Shapiro L. Wyer, of Hoosick Falls, was charged with second-degree assault, a class D felony, along with several misdemeanors including criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, third-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
Police were dispatched to a residence on Mechanic Street at approximately 7:38 p.m. for a reported active disturbance.
Callers reported a male was choking another male at the location.
An investigation determined Wyer had physically assaulted another male who lives in the home with him.
The victim was treated for his injuries.
Wyer was processed and remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of bail.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 22, 2026.
