RHINEBECK, NY — Three people were critically injured in a head-on collision on Route 9G on Friday.
The Rhinebeck Fire Department was dispatched to the two-vehicle crash at 12:53 p.m.
Emergency personnel found multiple patients at the scene, several of whom were trapped in their vehicles.
Additional advanced life support resources and a second heavy rescue unit were requested due to the severity of the crash.
Three patients were transported to Northern Dutchess Hospital and MidHudson Regional Hospital in critical condition.
Route 9G remained closed for several hours for patient care, extrication operations, vehicle removal and accident reconstruction.
The roadway reopened at 4:30 p.m.
The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
The Red Hook Fire Department, Rhinecliff Fire Department, Empress EMS, Dutchess County EMS, Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police and the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response assisted at the scene.
