DURHAMVILLE, NY — A Verona man faces multiple charges following a domestic incident on New Year’s Eve.
Steven G. Burton, 46, was arrested after deputies responded to a report of a domestic incident on Main Street on Dec. 31.
According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, deputies found that Burton had engaged in a physical altercation with another family member for whom there was a stay away order of protection in place.
Burton had left the scene prior to police arriving and was not located at that time.
On Jan. 1, Burton was located by patrol deputies and taken into custody without incident.
He was transported to the Sheriff’s Law Enforcement Building where he was charged with harassment in the second degree, a violation, and criminal contempt in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor.
The case was turned over to the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Unit for further felony level charges.
Burton was additionally charged with criminal contempt in the first degree, a class E felony, and aggravated family offense, also a class E felony.
Burton was held at the Sheriff’s Correctional Facility to await CAP Court.
After arraignment, Burton was held on $3,000 cash bail/$6,000 bond.
Burton is scheduled to appear in Verona Town Court at a later date.
